"i've been listening to a lot of superchunk lately. a lot. and i'm totally enamored with the way their songs are written and the imagery that mac mccaughan uses. so i tried to a write a song like they do, more an homage than a ripoff. I'm not entirly sure about the results and i'm pretty sure i'm flat in some places but i think it's pretty good nonetheless."
"this is a little rough around the edges but i like it a lot. just a good pop song. c-boo was a real sport
about this, recording her vocals with little preparation in just under an hour’s time. she also helped with
some of the rhyme scheme and word choice, although it’s all me on the harpsichord, folks. shabooyah!"
"In this song I tried to include as many things as I could that I love about rock music. The ballad-y intro,
totally rad drumming, that stadium clomp (which is hard to pull off on your own), and especially lyrics
about being on the road. Nothing signifies hard-rocking more than the song of the road warrior and I
wanted this to be like that. It took a while to get it right but I think this song does it right, even if I
couldn't do Hagar vocals for it."
"No one loves smooth music as much as the Lucey family and with Ferbuary being such a trying month, a
little smooth can make a lot of things easier. Also, my attempts at a Michael McDonald vocal made me
sound like a super smooth Gene Ween. Awesome."
