rory- knowing me, knowing you (abba cover)- "i've always loved when bleak lyrics are mixed with upbeat music. And it being Mum's birthday, I thought I'd dedicate this one to her. It's an Abba cover, since the parentals love Abba."
aidan- never wanted to be called mum- "happy birthday mum. this is a little ditty about you. it may sound sad, but it really isn't. also celebrating a birthday today, big philly styles. rock on with your bad self."
chris- berkinghamshireton, my home- "This is a Bayonet UK demo from the mid-eighties. The track was never officially released, but remains available on certain bootlegs. Fans were said to riot when it was performed live; though whether for love or hatred remains uncertain. Music historians cite the likely influence of short-lived Bayonet drummer Rory Shire, though Shire is wholly absent from the recording..."
jon- el presidente- "I was really tired today... just cause I was up late last night working on my song. So when I got home from work I very nearly fell asleep on the couch. Fortunately, I got up just in time to write this one. Kind of a belated "F-You" to George Bush. I was going to put in some harmonica, but I realized that it was in the wrong key. So... try to imagine a harmonica in there somewhere."
trevor-purples and reds (raison varner cover)- "Raison asked me to do my worst with his song. So I turned it into a gooey love ballad. But it's still cool."
raison- starlight 2- "I had to rush on this before I went to work, but I thought that I would do a second song in the style of starlight gleaming."

Hey Swisher. That Bayonet song is awesome! I totally forgot about it until now. I can see why the fans would have rioted... with a stompin' beat like that!

Trev---I love it!! :)

JON, you captured the spirit of the man. good work. also, shout out to big a, who provided some killer backing vocals. Aidan, you are benny to my bjorn. except annafrieda to my bjorn. regardless, i'm bjorn. bjorn again!

wow... i should proofread these things. "except' should be "or"... i think that sentence'll make sense now.

Posted by: Rory on February 17, 2005 11:58 AM

I thought that sounded like Aidan in there, Rory. How did that happen?

Posted by: Swisher on February 17, 2005 12:04 PM

dude, killer collabos like that are born out of necessity. i knew aidan would know the part and asked him to guest. maybe you'll get a call next week saying i need a sweet guitar solo on my jam, you never know. these things is spontaneous.

it should be added that rory is singing on my song as well, if only the last, and most important, line. anything for our mammy i guess.

so far... so good. keep it up. i also noticed you chose the shortest month of the year, hmmmmm.

Jon, you sound like Billy Bob Thorton. You should use that voice to sing about General PQH the Fight'nest General that ever shot a dog.

Good song, I liked it, all the way to work.

Eww! This is my first time posting, I feel so decapsitated.

aidan and ror - mum and dad enjoyed the songs. or should i say mammy and daddy enjoyed them, especially since you sang them together.

Rory - a question, posed by my friend Lauren. Was your Abba cover based, in any way, on the Evan Dando cover? Just curious....

Posted by: Swisher on February 17, 2005 09:32 PM

no. i was gonna do "s.o.s.", but halfway in i decided "Knowing me, knowing you" is better. dando didn't factor at all.
