rory- the friday shuffle- "i used to hate ska. until i wrote this song. hoo-cha!"
aidan- in da clubhouse- "sometimes you have to put the jokes aside and sing about what really matters, about your mistakes and regrets, hopes and fears. other times you try to write about getting freaky on a golf course. clearly, i went with the former."
chris- bantam classic p250- "This song was cowritten by Bram Stoker and Lauren Charkow. Beyond that, I think it speaks for itself."
jon- dear john (and steve)- "A short little song for some people I work with."
trevor-here to listen- Trevor neglected to provide a subtitle for this song. Demerits? not on your life!
raison- traveling- "figured I'd end up writing something that sounds like Days of the New at some point. Guess it's tonight!"

your song rocks Aidan. You totally pulled off the rap sound. Awesome doubling on your lyrics. lol... love it dude.

I love how weird your song is tonight Rory. I don't know how to classify it which is awesome. You and Aidan keep demonstrating really great versatility in your song writing.

You've got that sound down really solid Jon. I really like the chorus of jons in the back with that british accent. At least... it makes me think of england for some reason, although I have to admit, I'm pretty ignorant of punk culture.

awesome work everyone! We've almost hit 20!

chris, i am a changed man. i cannot return to my old life, not after hearing this. no way. rock.

LOL!!! Rory, and Aidan, you two need to do stand-up! Rory, your song is so much fun. Aidan, you're just freakin' hilarious!! The oxy moron-ness of a rap song that talks about golf is too much. Very nice!
As for "Bantam Classic p250", Chris, well I love it b/c it's fun, it's amusing, and I wa a literature major, so i was drawn to it from the beginning. Nice job!

Trev, we talked about the significance of your song for the night I had last night. Thank you, I love it.

Jon, though I'm not usually a fan of punk, I like your music, your lyrics, your style. You impress me. Well done!

Ah, Raison. You, sir, are like a jukebox: people never know what style, theme, or genre is coming across the airwaves next. The incredible difference? While jukeboxes provide a vast array of music from many different artists, you do all of the sundry pieces on your own. And that, my friend, is amazing.

What do you mean there's only 10 more days left?! :'(

ame, you're the best. isn't she the best, everyone?

[editor's note: shameless. 3 demerits]

Rory, are you a fan of The Specials? Probably not, if you hated ska before you wrote this song.

I remember blabbing incessantly to Aidan about that band, in our tenth grade math class. "Friday Shuffle" is like a more upbeat version of "Dawning of a new era." Great stuff, dude.

Aidan, I told you your life would never be the same. For my part, I will never look at golf or dirty r&b in the same way again. Not that I ever looked very closely at either, for very long. I think they both make me uncomfortable in similar ways. That's probably why this song works so well.

the blurb is a joke, i like ska fine and think the specials are pretty brilliant. you cut to the core, too, since "dawning" was stuck in my head while writing that song. shameless, but there are worse songs to imitate.

aidan: you are the master of entendre. The best is how ser-i-ous you manage to sound. Then you bust out with the doo doo doodle loo's. You're a bad ass caddy, aiight.

rory: you do know that 28 Days-ers all over the US are now doing the Friday Shuffle, right? No? Well, personally, I limp to the side like my leg was broken...

jon: this is one of my favorites of yours. it's got great texture - a poppy melody with that signature nojons guitar and multi-jon vocals to scour it up. awesome.

trevor: i was planning on raving about purples and reds, but this is beautiful, too. I like the piano in your songs but i like the deep sound in this one - whatsitcalled: cello. This song sounds polished - really finished, well done.

raison: about 15 years ago, I used to listen to this guitarist who played for some group called "alter eco." I think i heard him on an awful PBS hippie program like *music from the hearts of space* (eep) but hey, it was better than Casey Kasem. Anyhow, it reminded me of this song: sweet, sweet layers that mesh smoothly but don't take expected turns. If that makes any sense. Anyway - I like it.

chris: this is the kind of thing that should come with a sticker that says "Warning - Don't Try This At Home." in the hands of an amateur, this could have been disasterous. But you have taken artistic risks, and emerged victorious. Just remember: with great power comes great responsibility.

i think we can all agree: button, you rock. like, a lot.
