rory- gunnin' for the gates of hell- "Remember after 50 Cent had completely tooled Ja Rule, Ja came back with "Clap Back," his supposed return to the roughness of the streets. This, gentlemen, is my "Clap Back." Because "Clap Back" also completely failed to dent the marketplace like his sentimental stuff had and Ja quickly went back to his pop side. So after this, its back to the acoustic pining, but for now, this is like an oil tanker of rock. No jokes this time. If my pipes were more Bruce Dickinson and less Charles Dickens, this might work better, but that's irrelevant. I can't hear you Rio. DO YOU LOVE ROCK?!?!?!"
aidan- the ballad of bruce banner- "rockers love writing about superman (more powerful than all humans? but socially awkward? that's me!), and other superheroes have been unfairly ignored in the halls of rock. but not anymore."
chris- hoboken is burning- "Jim Heffernan recorded me on this one, out in Brooklyn. I did the vocals myself back in Jersey... for inspiration, though clearly there wasn't much of it."
jon- I Want My Buddy Icon Back- "this is the bitingly true tale of a 19 year old dude falling for a girl he'd never actually met before... and why that was a bad thing. It's all quiet and mellow because it was late and my dad was trying to sleep in the next room..."
trevor- fourth in line- "Now with vocals. I mean drums. Vocals. Didn't work."
raison- evil smurf- "The smurf had me in it's grasp!" raison did complete the challenge by finishing the song, even if events outside his control prevented him from submitting it on time. still, he recieves two and one half demerits.

DAY 8... jeeze, you guys really are serious about this, aren't you? Only 20 more days to go.

Rory - I was expecting something Meat Loaf-y, but this... this is fucking amazing, man. Fiddy and Ja can go screw off. Brings back all those awesome electric guitar duels from the haircore 80s. You get my Top Dog of the Day award. I hope someone here has the balls to attempt a cover of this later on.

Trevor - I listened to this last night when it was mis-posted and it's pretty bangin'. The guitar could be a little bit better recorded (Raison's spoiling us with his new baby), but it's nigh impossible not to find myself bopping my head along to this. And you've got some got some really interesting chord changes in here.

Raison - Not kosher, man, but I'm forgiving and will probably accept whatever excuse you have. I'm just sad. Your stuff is consistenty awesome and now I am left unsatisfied.

Jon - Damn your song for pertaining so much to my present situation. No, like seriously, damn you. Because I'm not that jaded yet, but your song's telling me I will be. Have I said damn yet?

Chris - As a hardcore New Yorker, seeing any part of Jersey burn is never a bad song. However, seeing it to a rockin' track like this, especially with the chorus vocals, would make it that much better. Now, where are those matches?

Aidan - Dr. Manhattan was the cooler science experiment gone horribly awry, but this makes me feel better about the movie. Great lyrics, though, and great use of the catch phrase.

With the exception of Trevor's lyricless entry, I'm noticing a trend towards the narrative tune. Not that I'm complaining. Keep up the amazing work, guys!

Hey Guys,

I was at a business meeting late at night and I couldn't make it home before 1am. I had to use the studio I built for a friend who I was with to record the song and his internet was down so I couldn't get the song to Aidan before 4am.

Hopefully he'll post it :)

Rory-- VERY cool! I like this song a lot. It has a distinct 80's feel to it, which works for me b/c I love 80's music. Your lyrics are consistently clever. I'm impressed :)

Aidan-- As always, I love your song. Your music/melody, lyrics and ideas are fantastic. I'm going to be sad when Feb ends!!

Chris-- I'm a (south) Jersey Girl, so hooray for this one! It's very catchy, and it has to do with NJ, so I'm happy with it :)

Jon-- Although the ode to Olive Garden is a tough act to follow, this one does so very well!! A fun idea, with fun lyrics to carry it. Nice job!

Trev-- No vocals makes me sad, but the guitar is great, and I really like this one. I'm so proud of you--just when you think you're sucked dry of musical ideas, you come up with something amazing day to day. Keep it up, hot stuff! :)

Raison-- I understand the delay, but I'm sad I can't hear your piece for today. Looking forward to tomorrow!!

hey, another solid day, with some great songs. In particular, though, jon, your track today is stellar. Some great harmonies and bass work, a perfect piece of bitter-sweet pop bliss. i'm curious to see what else you'll produce when your dad is trying to sleep next door.

I love the idea of singing about The Hulk. lol Awesome. (especially the giggling in the background at the end)

lol, so I'm NOT the only one who fell for a girl I never met.

Rory, your song totally is my favorite today. I LOVE the intro synth man! It makes me think of an old school nintendo game. In a very good way. I loved this one dude!

I like the falsetto in your song chris. I also dig the energy to the whole thing. I sent it to a game dev friend of mine who lives in hoboken. He thought it was great.

Great layering trev. I really like the way you're putting the parts together with the guitar. And you're right, this one doesn't need any vocals at all.
