aidan- panama- "you have no idea how happy this display of VH love makes me. for the record, i don't like van halen, but this totally rocks. and so do puns."
chris- hot for teacher- "I tried to make this sound how Van Halen makes me feel... I think I'm channeling the Butthole Surfers here. Happy VH Day!"

trevor-i can't stop loving you- "I hate Van Halen."
raison- jump- "I kept thinking to myself.. What the hell am I going to do for a cover of van halen? Then I realized the perfect cover for me! Orchestral!"

Hahahahaha.... I'm glad that we're all on the same page with Van Halen... and I'm glad we all managed to pick a different song to cover. That's the greatest VanHalentine's day present of all. YEAH!

some pretty stellar stuff tonight gang. jon, if you're not going to go any further with "musical rotoscoping," would you let any of the rest of us take the reins? seeing the results you got, i think it has a musical future still. that said, i was a little disappointed to see no one test the gary cherone waters. c'mon, does the cherone dynasty mean nothing to y'all?

Rory! Please feel free to use my patented "Musical Rotoscoping" technique. I have spent many years at my Ivy League colleges perfecting this technique... but I'd be very excited to see others employ this method!

LOL! What a concept! Way to go, guys!

P.S.~~ Aidan, you did for "Panama" what Pat Boone did for "Crazy Train" as the theme song for "The Osbournes" show! I love it! haha! A sort of Pink Panther-esque thing...

And Raison~~ I HATE YOU, MAN!!!! Geez!

Posted by: Amy on February 14, 2005 08:50 AM

lol, I love everyone's covers.

Trevor, this acapella version is awesome.

I love the swing beat Aidan, that rocks.

LOL, sorry trev, but Jon's acapella totally rocks yours out! Especially when he loses his breath and jams out some rockin drums. I love the distortion on your voice also Jon. This is awesome man!

You guys all did an awesome job, this was an awesome idea Aidan.

Rock on!

I can't believe we all got it together to do this thing. Now I know three more Van Halen songs than I did yesterday!

Dear Rock 'n' Rollers,

Happy Van Halentine's Day. As the, until now, unspoken member of the Bootleg Robot team, I think you've really busted this thing wide open. I've been watching the riots on a monitor 20 floors below sea level. Eighty-four songs of hard rock'n, sweet love'n, and occasionally silly ass rockitude is no small feat. And now you've wrapped it all up in a blood-red Van Halentine's bow! Fantastic. It's been a killer show, and I've never been so proud of our little website. You've reached the half way point. Here's to eighty-four more. Keep the rock alive!

hooray, phil! finally weighing in on our efforts. don't forget, folks, to check out phil's own daily rock-a-thon, drawing: daily. it's pretty sweet. also, jon, in the next few weeks, I'm going to branch out and test the rotoscope waters. there's something in the air, and i think it's rock!

Today's efforts need to come with a warning label: 'Do not listen to at work. The non-stop giggling will make you look odd' - particularly the 'right now' cover complete with shoutout to crystal pepsi. That was the cake-topper. This version of 'jump' is already slated to be performed during the next Olympic opening ceremony. Bravo and happy van halentine's day one and all. David Lee Roth is looking down upon you from rock god heaven, nodding approvingly.

Im not dead. But I do like what I see. You guys are great, keep it up and remember, 'Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht big enough to pull up right alongside it.'

two words: Fifty-five!

rockin' stuff guys! i've always had a closeted love of david lee roth's cover of "california girls" and nothing was a better present than val halentine's day! the fact that I continued to call it "van halentine's day" to the confused looks of all around me stands as a testament to how single i am. keep up the great work!
