« day #28 | Main

rory- isn't it time we quit?- "thanks to everyone who rocked along with this beast. it's been really cool to watch it grow into a super beast. and in the words of karen carpenter, 'we've only just begun'."
aidan- winter part 2- "in rochester, some things never end. keep on rocking."
chris- my voice yet (rory lucey cover)-"This seemed the perfect cover with which to round off the month. Love to DJ J Heffrock for producing this one! The stripped pop-punk sound of this recording is pretty much what I always wished I could be doing as I was learning how to play guitar, banging out Billy Bragg covers when I thought no one else was looking. So I hope you like it, Rory."
jon- 28 days later- "Tonight's track is called "28 Days Later" (I'm crossing my fingers and hoping no one else thought to use that... (how potentially embarassing!) I wanted to write something that brought closure to this whole thing. Maybe this works, maybe it doesn't. Either way... it'll be good to get back to terra firma after this musical trip to the moon. I'm tired right now, I think I'm getting sick... and I have to wake up in 5 hours... but I'm happy because (as the proclaimers say) "so'er n dun weh.""
trevor- it should be here any minute...
raison- the end- "Let the ROCK rock you hard until you can rock no longer. This month certainly rocked me out and now it's time to sleep for a month! But not before I end my 28 days with this baby."

Comments

cj, since we wrote our first songs on the first of february, the final songs go up on the first of march. the numbers are always one off, and it confuses the hell out of me.

I would also like to say, to all the people who listened to the songs, i hope you liked them, and if you want to take part in the next '28 days of rock' or '28 days of one act plays', or whatever, send me an email and we'll keep you informed. also, leave a comment telling us what you liked. rock and roll.

Maybe we should all take a step back for a second and see that Mr. Chris "I don't have any demerits" Swisher has recorded 5 cover songs during the month of February. A five-week month? Never heard of it. What's going on, Chris? Were you planning on telling any of us about this? Were you just going to hush up and hope that no one noticed? Well guess what, buddy!! I NOTICED!!! PREPARE TO BE JUDGED IN THE EYES OF JON!!!!

Posted by: Jon on March 1, 2005 06:47 AM

Oooooooohh.... feel the BURN!

Posted by: Burn Patrol on March 1, 2005 07:14 AM

Look, Aidan and I went over this. The rule reads "you may record one cover song per week."

From where I'm standing, that means one cover per Sunday-Saturday calendar week. And I've stayed true to that.

But listen, jon, if you wanna go, we can go. Bring that shit on.

Also, don't forget, no one has any demerits anymore.

Posted by: Swisher on March 1, 2005 07:18 AM

I'm only jesting, Swisher. Everyone else, all I can says is "Wow... we finally made it!" The last four years have gone by so quickly, it seemed like only a few weeks! War does funky things to young men... and when you've been in country as long as I have... you feel pretty funky. Like... really funky. I feel bad that my song for today couldn't have more rockin... and I wish I could have spent more than a day on it... but them's the rules. And besides, there's always a next time. Unless you're Chris Swisher. He has been asked to leave.

Posted by: Jon on March 1, 2005 07:23 AM

Jon, shut-up. It's not funny anymore.

Posted by: Burn Patrol on March 1, 2005 07:30 AM

Sure it is! Everybody laugh at Swisher!

Posted by: Jon on March 1, 2005 07:31 AM

No seriously. He just explained it. He doesn't deserve to be burned. Everyone thinks you're being an idiot.

Posted by: Burn Patrol on March 1, 2005 07:32 AM

YOU'RE A DESERVE BURN! GET OUT OF THE OVEN IF YOU don't wann be burned up! I know when ive hafd enough.. you'r not my bosss!

Posted by: Jon on March 1, 2005 07:33 AM

(Jon has been asked to leave)

Posted by: Burn Patrol on March 1, 2005 07:34 AM

Jon, you're fired. Partly for fanning the flames of discontent, but more for being (probably) drunk before work. You're toast, buddy.

Posted by: Swisher on March 1, 2005 09:22 AM

swisher's fine with the 5 cover thing. we had a pow wow a week ago about his performance and both sides left the meeting feeling pretty good. but he's wrong that no one has any demerits. reese still has tons.

Posted by: aidan on March 1, 2005 09:43 AM

Hey Aidan. I was just going through the archives in a fit of nostalgia for last month... and I came across your "28 Days of Rock" song from day 11. That song is FAN-TASTIC. I think, subconciously, I wanted my song from last night to be like that... but it didn't work. Anyway... I'm going to go play that one again.

Posted by: Jon on March 1, 2005 10:48 AM

it's all about the piano outro jon. and the word 'outro'.

Posted by: aidan on March 1, 2005 10:53 AM

Jon, I figured your song was just a stone-cold ripoff of Aidan's song.

Posted by: Swisher on March 1, 2005 11:03 AM

I have tons of demerits? Oh CRAP. I feel like I'm in that dream where it's the last day of the semester, and I haven't turned anything in, because I didn't know I was enrolled. Was I supposed to be submitting songs this whole time?

Posted by: reese on March 1, 2005 11:21 AM

by the way...I posted something last night, and it's not there...I don't think

Posted by: reese on March 1, 2005 11:22 AM

where do I buy the CD? What a remarkable feat! congratulations to all.

Posted by: Tom on March 1, 2005 11:25 AM

reese, you posted on a different day, over here. I don't know why.

tom, the cd is forthcoming i believe.

we have set a new comments record. woo hoo!

Posted by: aidan on March 1, 2005 11:36 AM

rock n' roll, ladies. while i'm disappointed that it all has to end, i'm already anticipating a summer edition. jon, i think your song today is pretty rock-tastic. c'mon, everyone can relate to not washing and eating tang! i mean, am i right? aidan, very slick with a super cool guitar riff. it is has a certain u2 feel to it, but that may just be me. and chris, this is the raddest thing ever. you totally killed this. it's brilliant. now maybe trev and raison will submit something so we can start this party. rock out!

Posted by: Rory on March 1, 2005 03:02 PM

I think we've all learned a lot about the rock and the role here today.

Trevor and Raison, are you there? Boys? Can you hear me? Hang in there. Don't give up!

Ror, way to kick the crap out of February! Rory 28 winter 0.

Chris and Jon, I've enjoyed your songs over many a morning's coffee. You could put out an album and call it "Like a hot cup of coffee to the face: FREAKING AWSOME SONGS TO KICK START YOUR DAY!"

And Aidan, its time to take off those god damn headphones! I'm thinking of starting a blog for patience-tired roommates. www.needafriend.org I hope the name isn't registered yet. It's only for the lonely and the cast off victims of this month long isolation. Email Phil@bootlegrobot.com and we'll talk.

Rock on kids!

Posted by: Phil on March 1, 2005 05:07 PM

if I had a mac and musical talent, I'd write a song called "internet roadie," or perhaps, "cyberspace groupie," but since I don't, I guess I'll just have to be one. generations of rockers will want to travel back in time to buy the headbands, because you guys f***ing rock... (here's your american express and have a nice day).

congratulations, and thanks for the tunes.

Rock on everyone! Great closing to an interesting month.

Guess I oughta explain a lil bit about my absence...

It all started on Sunday night when my car broke down... I had to get it towed to Saturn and then on Monday came the blizzard. I was at a friend's house when it hit and I got snowed in. So I stayed the night, had to get my car adn go striaght to work today, got home around 8:00pm and then it was time to seriously rock.

Not it's about 2 hours later and I've got my final song in. WOO HOO!!!!!!!

Great work everyone this month!
