Secret Entrance
I have a fondness for doorways and strong asymmetry. Check and check. The doorways in Scotland are especially sweet.

Scottish Parliamentary Building
I don’t even know where to begin with this one. I almost fell off my bike when I saw it. Is it a prison, I wondered? Was it a set piece from the movie Blade Runner? Wrong and wrong again.

Weathervanes
I think there is a bird on one of those weathervanes? That or a very little windsock.

FREEDOM
What? Did I hear someone say that I only took this photo for is comic effect, and that I have no appreciation for a fine tradition of Scottish art and culture? You’re damn right I did! It’s a sculpture of an old man with breasts and wings. Awesome.

Square
Apparently I only go to museums to make fun of the art and the people, but I swear, that guy had on a pocket protector with like six pens in it. Honest.

Blackness Castle
Blackness Castle has a dungeon that is open the tide and twice a day the water would roll in flooding the prison. We visited at the height of summer and I was still dressed in pants and a sweater. I’m not sure many of those guys made it to trial.

Mysterious Remains
The vestigial remains of an ancient civilization, or the work of creatures from another planet. We may never know the answer, but one things for sure: my grandmother flower garden is more interesting than this place. To the kings of yore, and little green men, let’s show a little effort.

Falkirk Wheel I
The Falkirk Wheel was odd edition to the tip. It joined two sections of a canal, one of which was 80 or so feet above the other. The canal is understandably very old as many things are in Scotland, but it got me wondering what the hell were those guys were thinking. In Rochester we share the Erie Canal, Panama has its deal, but those boys in Scotland built a canal with a 100 foot free fall? It took engineers until 2002 to build this boat swapping carnival ride. Anyway, it put me in an odd mood hence the photos. Enjoy!
